Guelph – (December 13, 2006) - An overwhelming percentage of producers and growers said they are gearing up for change in their business over the next five years according to a recent survey completed by ACC Farmers’ Financial (ACCFF) for AMI #009. They also perceive a lot of resources are available to help, but don’t know where to start or if there is a fit. ACCFF commissioned this survey as part of the Farm Business Management Awareness Project (AMI #009) to help identify obstacles and potential solutions to increasing the rate of uptake of farm business management programs in Ontario.
“At ACC Farmers’ Financial farming is our business too,” says William McClounie, ACCFF, Project Lead “so it is our wish to see producers and growers take advantage of every resource, training course, strategy and business management practice to help manage change and prosper. But how can you do this when producers are bombarded with information?”
“Thankfully, the survey, the awareness campaign and our industry partners gave us a lot of insight. So this week we are launching an “ag-google” tool at www.LetsTalkFarmBusiness.com to help ease continued adoption of farm business management and planning on Ontario farms. We consider this phase one, as there’s still a lot of opportunity ahead,” says McClounie.
This project was funded in part through contributions by the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario under the Agricultural Management Institute (AMI), an initiative of the federal-provincial-territorial Agricultural Policy Framework designed to position Canada’s agri-food sector as a world leader. The Agricultural Adaptation Council administers the AMI program on behalf of the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario.
